mIRC INSTRUCTIONS

Please remember - you have to be a member of the Stargate Command: RPG to be permitted to stay in the room. Don't bother lying, I know all of the players.

1) Download mIRC from http://www.mirc.com (just follow the instructions on the page and in the set up to get it working).

2) Open the program after installing it. Go to FILE, OPTIONS and then make sure you're at the 'Connect' part.

3) There are four small buttons up the top. Press "Add".

4) Enter the following...

Description: RPG

IRC Server: irc.webmaster.com

Port(s): 6667

5) Then click the add button in that box.

6) Fill in your details and make sure to choose a nickname. Then press "Connect to IRC Server". This will load for a few seconds (be patient). Now when it loads, a box will come up. This is the channels folder. If, in the list of channels, the name #stargaterpg doesn't show up, then press ADD. Then simply fill in:

Channel: #stargaterpg

and leave the other fields blank. Then click on #stargaterpg so that it is highlighted and press JOIN (it's a button to the right, near the bottom).

7) That will get you into the right room. However, you may find that your nickname didn't work. You would have been changed to your alternative nickname that you put down or you will be known as "Guest..." and a number. To change this (to a different nickname than what you chose before), type /nick yournickname

This may work if that nickname is available. If it's not, just keep repeating the /nick yournickname move until you get a name that will stay. To keep a track of what's happening, click the little Status box on the third menu down (just look for it on the main screen, you'll find it).
